Estimated Time:
- 1-2 hours
-
Begin by removing the old tailgate emblem and camera housing from the tailgate. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry away the clips that hold the emblem and housing in place. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area or the parts themselves.
-
Once the old emblem and housing are removed, clean the surface of the tailgate where the new parts will be installed. Use a clean, dry cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
-
Take the new Ford tailgate back up camera housing and emblem kit and place the camera housing into the tailgate, making sure it is properly aligned. Use a socket wrench set to securely fasten the camera housing into place with the supplied screws.
-
Connect the camera’s wiring harness to the appropriate connector on the vehicle. You may need to route the harness through the tailgate and into the cabin of the truck.
-
Take the new emblem and place it onto the tailgate, aligning it with the camera housing. Gently press the emblem into place, securing the clips onto the tailgate.
-
Once the new parts are securely attached, check them for proper fit and alignment. Make any necessary adjustments.
-
Finally, test the new camera to ensure it is working properly. You may need to activate the camera by shifting the truck into reverse.
